1 .International solar alliance (GS2,3): The ISA is a collaborative initiative between India and France aimed at uniting efforts to combat climate change by implementing solar energy solutions. It was conceptualized on the side lines of COP21 in Paris in 2015. Following a 2020 amendment to its Framework Agreement, all UN member states are now eligible to join the Alliance.

Currently, 100+ countries are signatories, with 90+ countries having ratified to become full members. Its mission is to unlock $1 trillion in solar investments by 2030 while reducing technology and financing costs.

Towards 1000’ strategy

The ISA is guided by its “Towards 1000’ strategy, which aims to mobilise USD 1,000 billion of investments in solar energy solutions by 2030 while delivering energy access to 1,000 million people using clean energy solutions and resulting in the installation of 1,000 GW of solar energy capacity.

This would help mitigate global solar emissions to the tune of 1,000 million tonnes of CO, annually.

To meet these goals, the ISA takes a programmatic approach. Currently, the ISA has nine comprehensive programmes, each focusing on a specific application that could help scale the deployment of solar

2 .One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme:  is a scheme that aims to provide equal pension benefits to military personnel who retire from the same rank and with the same length of service, regardless of their date of retirement. This means that a soldier who retires today will receive the same pension as a soldier who retired 10 years ago, if they both held the same rank and served for the same number of years.

key features of the OROP scheme:

• Equal pension for equal rank and service: All military personnel who retire from the same rank and with the same length of service will receive the same pension, regardless of their date of retirement.

• Periodic revision: The pension benefits under OROP will be revised periodically, so that the pension gap between current and retired personnel is not widened over time.

• Automatic benefit passing: Any future increase in the pension rates for serving personnel will be automatically passed on to the pensioners under the OROP scheme.
