1 . The Model Youth Gram Sabha (MYGS)
General Studies Paper-II (250 Marks) – Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International Relations
is a groundbreaking initiative launched by the government of India to promote civic education and participatory local governance among the youth.
Conceptualized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with the Ministries of Education and Tribal Affairs,
the program aims to strengthen 'Janbhagidari' (people's participation) by bringing the democratic process of the Gram Sabha (Village Assembly) directly into schools.
Students from Classes 9 to 12 in over 1,000 schools, including Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Residential Schools, will participate in structured, experiential learning sessions.
These sessions involve students role-playing as village leaders such as the Sarpanch, Ward Members, and Village Secretary to debate local issues, draft village development plans, and pass mock resolutions.
By simulating real-world governance and decision-making, the MYGS seeks to nurture a new generation of informed, responsible, and engaged citizens committed to accountability and the vision of a Developed India.
