  1. NCRB Report 2022: The 2022 NCRB report, titled "Crime in India 2022," reveals a delayed release by at least five months compared to its usual July or August schedule. The data, collected from 36 states, Union territories, and central agencies, highlights a 4% increase in crimes against women, with 4,45,256 cases registered in 2022. The report specifies major offenses, including cruelty by spouses or relatives (31.4%), kidnapping and abduction (19.2%), assault "with Intent to outrage modesty" (18.7%), and rape (7.1%). Rajasthan reported the highest number of rape cases (5,399), followed by Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Haryana. Crimes against children rose by 8.7%, predominantly involving kidnapping and abduction (45.7%). Senior citizens faced a 9.3% increase in crimes, primarily hurt (27.3%), theft (13.8%), and forgery, cheating, and fraud (11.2%). Offenses against Scheduled Castes (SC) rose by 13.1%, and those against Scheduled Tribes (ST) increased by 14.3%. 2.Geographical Indication (GI) : Recent recognition of four agricultural products in southern Tamil Nadu, including Cumbum paneer grapes, Authoor betel leaves, Sholavandhan betel leaves, and Kanniyakumari matti banana, highlights the need to protect their uniqueness amidst climate change challenges.

Farmers express concerns about potential production decline due to climate-related factors, such as off-season rains impacting plant growth and fruit quality. Exporting these GI-tagged fruits abroad while ensuring preservation poses a significant challenge. Resolving these issues requires climate-resilient solutions that do not compromise the intrinsic characteristics recognized by the GI, including odor, color, and taste. Addressing soil management is crucial, considering the properties acknowledged during the GI process.

Ongoing studies aim to develop customized techniques aligned with climate, soil, crop, and region specifics to enhance resilience to climatic conditions.
