 is a cutting-edge, web-based, unified inundation forecasting system recently launched in India, designed to revolutionize the country's flood management and disaster response capabilities.

Developed through a collaborative effort by the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Pune, and the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), its primary function is to provide advanced flood forecasts and detailed inundation maps.

This crucial information is delivered directly to villages up to two days in advance, enabling communities to prepare effectively, execute timely evacuations, and significantly mitigate the devastating impact of floods.

The system leverages sophisticated 2-D hydrodynamic modeling and utilizes the robust high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure of the National Supercomputing Mission. Currently, C-FLOOD offers real-time flood mapping and water level predictions for the Mahanadi, Godavari, and Tapi river basins, with ambitious plans for future expansion to cover all major river systems across India.

This initiative marks a transformative stride in bolstering India's flood resilience, fostering proactive planning, and safeguarding communities against the wrath of flood disasters.

3 .R E C L A I M:

The term "RECLAIM" in the context of the Election Commission of India (ECI) refers to a significant initiative focused on delisting inactive and non-compliant Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs).

The ECI has observed that a substantial number of RUPPs, despite being registered, have failed to actively participate in the democratic process by contesting elections since 2019, and many also lack a traceable physical office or fail to submit mandatory financial reports.

This widespread inactivity raises concerns about potential misuse of privileges associated with registration, such as tax exemptions.

Under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the ECI has therefore embarked on this nationwide "RECLAIM" exercise to ensure the integrity of the electoral roll, prevent the misuse of public funds, and enhance transparency and accountability within the political party system.

The process involves identifying such non-compliant RUPPs, issuing show-cause notices through Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) in states and Union Territories, and ultimately delisting them if they fail to provide satisfactory explanations or comply with regulations.

This systematic cleanup aims to streamline the political landscape, ensuring that only genuinely active and compliant political entities benefit from the advantages of registration.
