1 .Saraswati Pushkaralu is a significant Hindu festival celebrated every 12 years when Jupiter enters Gemini, dedicated to the mystical Saraswati River. This 12-day event, observed from May 15 to May 26, 2025,

is considered highly auspicious for spiritual purification and seeking blessings from Goddess Saraswati, who embodies knowledge and wisdom.

Devotees take holy dips and perform rituals, particularly at sacred confluences like Kaleshwaram in Telangana, where the Godavari, Pranahita, and subterranean Saraswati are believed to converge.

2 .The PM E-DRIVE Scheme, launched by the Ministry of Heavy Industry on October 1, 2024, is a ₹10,900 crore initiative to boost electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India until March 31, 2026.

It offers demand incentives for e-2Ws, e-3Ws, e-buses, e-ambulances, and e-trucks to lower purchase costs, allocates ₹2,000 crore for 72,000 EV charging stations, and promotes domestic EV manufacturing under "Aatmanirbhar Bharat."

BHEL is the nodal agency, developing a unified digital app for EV users.

3 .The International Day of Yoga is observed annually on June 21st. Established by the United Nations in 2014 following India's proposal, it aims to raise global awareness of yoga's health and well-being benefits.

The date, June 21st, aligns with the Summer Solstice.

The theme for 2025 is "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," emphasizing yoga's role in holistic well-being and global harmony.

4 .The Bharat Forecasting System (BFS), launched on May 26, 2025,

by the Indian government, represents a groundbreaking advancement in weather prediction, developed by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune.

Operating at an unprecedented 6-km resolution, the highest globally, BFS surpasses the earlier 12-km Global Forecast System, enabling highly precise forecasts for localized weather events such as heavy rainfall, cyclones, and thunderstorms.

Powered by the Arka supercomputer with 11.77 petaflops and 33 petabytes of storage, BFS reduces forecasting time from 10-13 hours to just 3-4 hours, enhancing efficiency for disaster management, agriculture, and water resource planning, especially at the panchayat level. Since its experimental phase began in June 2022, BFS has demonstrated a 30% improvement in extreme rainfall predictions and a 64% enhancement in monsoon rainfall forecasts, while also improving cyclone track and intensity projections.

Covering tropical regions (30°S to 30°N) and the Indian mainland (8.4°N to 37.6°N), it integrates data from 40 Doppler Weather Radars, with plans to expand to 100 for nationwide 2-hour nowcasts.

As a deterministic model, BFS provides open-access outputs for global researchers, fostering collaboration with institutions like the UK Met Office and leveraging ISRO satellite data. Spearheaded by IITM researchers, including Parthasarathy Mukhopadhyay,

ree

and led by five female scientists, BFS positions India as a global leader in meteorology, outpacing models from Europe, the UK, and the US, and addressing the increasing threat of extreme weather events to support economic stability and public safety.
