Marsyangdi River (GS-1,Geog): The Marsyangdi River is a significant river in Nepal, originating in the Manang District in the northern part of the country.
It is a tributary of the Gandaki River system and is known for its fast-flowing waters, making it popular for activities like rafting and kayaking.

Key Features of the Marsyangdi River:
Source and Course:
The Marsyangdi River originates from the confluence of two streams, the Khangsar Khola and the Jharsang Khola, in the Manang District.
It flows eastward, passing through the Marshyangdi Valley, before turning southward and eventually joining the Trishuli River, which is part of the larger Gandaki River system.
Length:
The river is approximately 150 kilometers long.
Hydropower:
The Marsyangdi River is harnessed for hydroelectric power, with several hydropower plants along its course. The most notable among them are the Middle Marsyangdi Hydroelectric Plant and the Upper Marsyangdi Hydroelectric Project.
Rafting and Kayaking:
The river is renowned for white-water rafting and kayaking due to its steep gradient and rapid water flow, especially in the upper reaches.
The river provides a challenging experience for adventure seekers, with rapids classified as Class IV to V.
Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana: Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav told that this scholarship will be provided at all India level and each Postal circle will provide maximum 40 scholarships to 10 students of class 6, 7, 8, and 9 each. The amount of scholarship will be ₹ 6000/- per annum at the rate of ₹ 500/- per month, which will be payable on quarterly basis. Postmaster General, Sh. Yadav said that to be eligible for the scholarship, one should be a student of a recognized school in India. The concerned school should have a Philately club and the candidate should be a member of the club.

In case the school does not have a Philately Club, the name of a student of that school who has his/her own Philately Deposit account can also be considered. Philately Deposit account can be opened in Post offices with a amount of ₹200 only.
While making selection for the scholarship, it should be kept in mind that the candidate must have secured at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade/grade points in the last final examination. There will be a relaxation of 5% for SC/ST candidates.

4.Khelo India Para Games: Khelo India Scheme the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) organizes National-level competitions, i.e., Khelo India Youth Games and Khelo India University Games to provide a platform for talented athletes to showcase their sporting and competitive skills.
So far 8 editions of Khelo India Youth and University Games and 3 editions of Winter Games have been successfully conducted with the participation of 36 States/UTs & Universities respectively.
In the same line, in order to promote Para Athletes, the 1st edition of Khelo India Para Games 2023 is being organized from 10th -17th December 2023 across 3 venues in the city of Delhi across 7 sports Disciplines (Para Archery, Par Athletics, Para Badminton, Para Table Tennis, Para Powerlifting, CP Football, Para Shooting) with the approximate participation of 1500 athletes, 200 Technical Officials, 150 Volunteers, 350 Support Staff, 300 escorts & 20 classifiers from 36 States and UTs.
