1 .The National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal is an ambitious and significant project aimed at preserving and showcasing India's rich maritime history. Located at the ancient Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) site of Lothal in Gujarat, a historically significant port town and trading hub dating back to 2400 BCE, the complex will serve as a world-class cultural and tourism destination.
Spanning over 400 acres, the NMHC is being developed by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways under the Sagarmala Programme.
The complex will feature a comprehensive National Maritime Museum with multiple galleries, a planned replica of the ancient city of Lothal, a Lighthouse Museum, and several theme-based parks, including a Maritime and Navy theme park.
an estimated cost of around Rs. 4,500 crore, is envisioned as an immersive "edutainment" destination, providing an interactive journey through India's maritime heritage from the Harappan era to modern times, thereby strengthening the nation's cultural identity and promoting tourism.
