1 . The India Innovation Summit highlighted a complex picture of tuberculosis in the nation.
While 2024 saw a record 26.07 lakh TB cases notified, indicating improved detection, the incidence rate has actually decreased by 17.7% since 2015.
This discrepancy is likely due to factors like increased case finding, population growth, and more effective surveillance.
Additionally, there has been a reduction in the number of "missing" TB cases, and a reduction in the death rates related to TB.
India's commitment to TB elimination is demonstrated through the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), aiming to end TB by 2025.

Key initiatives include active case finding, universal drug susceptibility testing, and directly observed treatment (DOTS).
The Nikshay Poshan Yojana provides nutritional support to TB patients, while the TB Harega Desh Jeetega campaign focuses on raising awareness and reducing stigma.
Innovative approaches like the use of digital technologies for patient monitoring and adherence are also being implemented.
These efforts combine improved diagnostics, treatment access, and socio-economic support to combat TB.
