1 .Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha:


(GS Paper I: Indian Heritage and Culture)


was a young Indian revolutionary who made a significant impact on the Indian independence movement. At just 15 years old, he joined the Ghadar Party and became one of its most active members.


He played a crucial role in organizing revolutionary activities in India and abroad, editing the party's newspaper "Ghadar" to inspire fellow Indians.


Tragically, at the tender age of 19,


he was hanged by the British authorities in 1915 for his unwavering commitment to India's freedom. His bravery and sacrifice continue to inspire generations, making him an immortal figure in India's history.


2 .National Press Day 2024: is celebrated annually on November 16th to honor the vital role of a free and responsible press in society. This day marks the establishment of the Press Council of India (PCI) in 1966, an independent body dedicated to upholding journalistic ethics and safeguarding press freedom.


The PCI acts as a watchdog, ensuring that the media maintains high standards of reporting and remains unbiased. National Press Day highlights the importance of a well-informed public and recognizes the contributions of journalists in shaping public opinion and holding those in power accountable.

3 .Bali Jatra

(GS Paper I: Indian Heritage and Culture)


It is a major festival celebrated in Cuttack, Odisha, to commemorate the maritime history of the region.


It's one of Asia's largest open trade fairs, held annually on Kartik Purnima (full moon night in November).


During this festival, people gather to remember the ancient Sadhabas, Odia mariners who set sail to distant lands like Bali, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, and Sri Lanka for trade and cultural exchange.


The festival showcases the rich maritime heritage of Odisha, with colorful boats, traditional dances, music, and a vibrant market filled with local handicrafts, food, and other goods.

Bali Jatra is a significant cultural event that attracts thousands of visitors each year, offering a glimpse into the historical and cultural significance of Odisha's maritime past.



4 .The Taruner Swapno scheme

(GS Paper II: Governance)


is a government initiative in West Bengal aimed at providing financial assistance to students of classes 11 and 12. Under this scheme, students receive Rs. 10,000 to purchase smartphones or tablets to facilitate online learning. The scheme aims to bridge the digital divide and empower students with technological tools to enhance their education.


However, the scheme has been marred by a significant cyber fraud, with many students reporting that the funds were diverted to fraudulent accounts. The West Bengal government has taken steps to investigate the matter and has arrested several individuals involved in the scam.
