  1. Global Hunger Index: India has been ranked 105th in the 2024 Global Hunger Index (GHI), placing it in the "serious" hunger category. The GHI, developed by international organizations Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe, assesses hunger levels based on indicators such as undernourishment, child stunting, child wasting, and child mortality across 127 countries. India’s score of 27.3 indicates significant hunger issues.

    In contrast, neighboring South Asian countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka have achieved better rankings in the "moderate" category. The report highlights that without substantial progress, many nations, including India, are unlikely to meet the UN’s Zero Hunger goal by 2030.

    Globally, the report underscores the growing challenge of food insecurity, with millions facing hunger daily and some African nations listed in the "alarming" category due to conflicts exacerbating food crises.

2. Global Innovation Index (GII) ranks India 39th out of 133 economies, up from 40th in 2023.


The GII is a World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) report that ranks economies based on their innovation capabilities.

Switzerland: 1st place, for the 14th year in a row

Sweden: 2nd place


USA: 3rd place
